So I have about 1300 miles on the 14 now and so far the tires are wearing pretty good but I have to say the stock Metzlers just don't inspire confidence for me. They seem to slip around a bit when they cold and if you hit any irregularities in the road they slip all over. I've noticed even just a little throttle in a corner and they rear every once in awhile will slip a touch, just enough you give that "ass pucker" feeling. I just can't get comfortable really putting them into a corner hard. The don't seem all that great in the rain either. Been caught a few times already and I'm paranoid that front is gonna let go at any moment in the wet.
Anyone else feel that way with the stock tires? I really enjoy riding the Pilot Power 2CT's and have put them on everything, even my CBR1100XX and it made all the difference in the world, you could drag the fairings on that thing without feeling the slightest blip from the tires. I may rip these things off and go with a set of those. I have to say the Pilot Road 3's also peaked my interest as well and from other riders here seem to get rave reviews. Since the 14 does see a lot of interstate riding (road are flat and straight here) but also some spirited riding it's tough to find a tire that does both well.
